Public Access Computers and Internet
Carthage Public Library offers public internet access and a number of public access computers for adults, teens, and children. Internet access, computers, and other equipment must be used in accordance with our policies. Equipment and availability may change. Here’s the basics:
- Adult (18+) cardholders must present a current, valid Carthage Public Library card in good standing to use the computers.
- Adult (18+) non-cardholders must pay $1.00 per hour, before use.
- All computer users under 18 years of age must have a current, valid library card in good standing in order to use our computers.
- Wireless internet access (WiFi) is available in both the main Library and Makerspace buildings during normal operating hours.
- Printing is available on most public access computers – see staff for assistance.
- Computers for adults are located near the upstairs Internet Desk.
- Dedicated computers for research and microfilm viewing are located at the upstairs Reference area.
- Laptops (in-library use only) for teens can be checked out at the upstairs Internet or Reference Desks.
- Children’s computers are located in the children’s area downstairs.
- AWE Early Learning computers with dedicated educational software for kids 6 and under are also available in the Children’s department.
- 3D modeling laptops, 3D printer, laser cutter, AV capture-converters, and other specialized equipment is available by arrangement in our Steadley Makerspace outbuilding.
