Plan ahead for our upcoming Library closure
Our Library is no stranger to dealing with renovation and maintenance issues that are out of our control. Beginning Monday, November 3, the Carthage Public Library will be closed for approximately 2–3 weeks while essential projects are completed, however, the duration cannot be guaranteed and may be affected by construction issues, supply chain or other unforeseen factors. Updates will be shared on the Library’s website and social media.
- Front Entrance Renovation: The front doors and breezeway will be removed and replaced to provide smoother entry for patrons. This upgrade will also reduce utility costs, saving money long-term.
- Ceiling Repairs: The dome area in the newer section of the Library has experienced significant water damage. Major renovation of the second-floor ceiling—where our adult internet computers and book collections are located—construction in that area will make it unsafe for staff and patrons to access the space during this time. We will post photos of our progress on social media.
What You Need to Know During the Closure:
- Checkouts & Returns: We do not charge overdue fines. Please hold onto your items until we reopen. The book drop will be closed.
- Internet Access: Free library Wi-Fi will remain available in the parking lot.
- Digital Library: Patrons with updated library cards can continue using our e-book collection and other on-line resources throughout the closure.
- Programs: All adult and children’s programming will be paused until reopening.
- Contact Us: Administrative staff will check email daily. For urgent questions, please reach out to reno2025@carthagelibrary.net
“We thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these much-needed improvements. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and stock up on reading and study materials before November 3.”
