The Carthage Public Library is seeking applications for an opening at our Library.

The Carthage Public Library is seeking applications for one immediate opening at our Library. There will be set hours each week of 16 hours, including two Saturdays a month. There will be a possibility of more hours added to the schedule after the probationary period of 90 days. Starting pay is minimum wage of $13.75 an hour, including a PTO plan. Please pick up an application at the Circulation Desk and attach a resume. Applications close on May 15, with the position beginning on June 1, 2025.
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist the public in checking in and out materials using our automated system.
- Assist patrons in obtaining library cards.
- Assist patrons by responding to their questions.
- Perform functions such as taking payments, making change, assisting with patron concerns, and locating library materials.
- Sort and shelve materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
The position requires standing/sitting for long periods of time, pushing book carts, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting 50 pounds, and working on a computer. Good people skills are essential, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
